Resident Evil 4 Remake Players Think The Trap Placement Is Even More Brutal Now

The primary threat in Resident Evil Games are the undead. However, those of you who have played Resident Evil 4 will know another very annoying, threat are the Game's bear traps. The bad news on what is an otherwise great weekend for those of you playing Resident Evil 4 Remake is the bear traps remain, and some of you think they're even more unforgiving than the traps in the original.

It didn't take long for the discussion surrounding Remake's traps to start up on the Resident Evil subreddit. Water_Knight kicked things off by admitting it feels like they've been falling foul of far more traps in the remake than they did in the original Game. Questioning whether their eyesight is simply worse due to the passage of time, many of you have put their mind at ease by confirming they too are getting Leon's legs caught more than usual.

While you might think a Game with improved graphics and visuals would make bear traps easier to see, and thus avoid, it's actually quite the opposite. The foliage covering the ground has far more detail making the traps a lot easier to disguise. There is a little bit of good news, though. Even though they're harder to see, the traps no longer deal damage like they used to in Resident Evil 4.

In the remake, they will simply slow you down which obviously still isn't ideal. It seems by the time many of you have realized what's happened, whatever you're running from or trying to kill will have caught up with you and finished you off. Clearly Leon's legs are made of sterner stuff than they were 18 years ago. He must have been expecting to step on more traps than usual and popped on a pair of shin pads or something.

Odds are a lot of you will have stepped on a bear trap or two as Resident Evil 4 Remake smashed the series' concurrent player launch day record on Steam on Friday. In fact, the record had been broken again every time I hit refresh from about midday onwards. Traps aren't the only thing from the original to survive the remake treatment. The OG Game's lake easter egg has also made the jump to 2023.
